1935 Harley Model VL Flathead Frame
Thank God There's Harleys... So, let's show them!
We thank "Blackie" from Chillicothe, Ohio, United States who kindly made available these photos of this 1935 Harley Model VL Flathead frame.
Blackie: "1935 harley VL frame, cast webbing is drilled, the rear legs are cut and bent for a lower stance, neck has a 1/2 inch cut off top for a 36 - 47 springer. Has 45 fat bob gas/oil tank mounts.
I had a VL motor in her and ran a 4 speed knuckle tranny. I rode this to Daytona last year."
Blackie: "Solid old frame, reinforced under the tranny mount where it needed it! Keep in mind this is a 75 year old frame!
I did the work on the frame, been building Bobbers for 35 years. I cut the seat tee off. I lowered the rear end and reinforced the cuts.
I took 1 inch out of the top legs, so as to lower the rear end. Stock VL frame is set high in the back! It also gives you a little more rake in front, stock VL rake is 27 degrees.
A 45 motor is too small for this frame, this is a big twin frame."
