1954 Harley KH Flathead Restoration Project
Alan lists the following activities and specifics on this Harley Flathead KH motorcycle restoration project:
- Front and rear fenders and tank painted metallic black
- Engine completely rebuilt, new pistons, rings and valves, cylinders rebored
- Heads lapped and polished
- Complete new set of chrome head bolts and correct washers
- Engine front mounting plates and spider chrome plated
- Correct gas tap with reserve
- Original Bates seat not sprung
- Original "P" pad mounted on rear fender
- Rear fender is factory made aluminium
- Front fender is steel
- New fork stanchions and gaiters
- Triple tree is chrome plated
- Steering head bearings converted to tapered roller bearings
- Oil tank is painted with black wrinkle paint
- Stainless steel braided oil lines
- New brass seals and nuts to connect inlet pipe to heads
- Custom made inlet pipe to mount 1-1/2 S.U. carburettor
- Chromed valve guide covers
- Cylinders are coated powdered black
- Entire exhaust system is ceramic coated, mufflers have no baffles
- Complete new clutch
- Later model chrome plated steel primary cover
- Original alloy wheel rims front and rear
- Front hub is aluminium with air scoop on backing plate
- New clutch cable
- Handlebars are chromed with H.D. standard throttle control
- Custom fittings made of stainless steel or aluminium
- Stainless steel nuts and bolts used throughout
- Lights are mounted not wired in
- Magneto ignition
- Tires need replacing
Actually, Alan is selling his 1954 Harley KH Model Flathead classic motorcycle.
Alan: "I have had the bike for nineteen years, finished restoration six years ago, has been in storage since. Engine is in running order, no miles on it. Reason for selling - I am 72 years old and have not ridden for last ten years."
