1948 Harley Model U Flathead Bobber
Thank God There's Harleys... So, let's show them!
Gianni from Florence, Italy sent us these photos of his splendid 1948 Harley Model U Flathead Bobber motorcycle.
Gianni: "I bought this bike in Holland 3 years ago from a friend of mine, Jack, who is a great mechanic and owner of the Motorcycle Rescue Company which is a great place for Harley oldtimers enthusiasts. I would like to build a period correct bobber and this bike in my opinion is very good to do this."
Gianni: "I bought the bike with the engine freshly rebuilt.
I rebuilt the springer, the wheel hubs, painted the rims, and did some more exterior jobs."
"The tires are replica Firestone, the handlebars are Flanders that I bought in a swap meet in Germany. The bird deflector is a Lanstrom. Flanders risers, Giuliari seat, Sparto tail light, and BLC fog light are from Ebay. Superior exhaust and MCM grips are from Fabercycle."

Development of a Flathead Bobber
Gianni keeps working to get his Harley Flathead motorcycle as close as possible to what he thinks an 1948 Bobber should look like.
Here are some pictures of earlier stages of Gianni's U Flathead Bobber. Note the differences in the handlebars, air cleaner, exhaust, rear light and licence plate bracket, rear fender, etc.
Harley Flatheads Were Made For Ridin'!
For sure Gianni does not have the intention to build his Bobber and then put it in a motorcycle museum. Here's some pictures taken on a recent road trip in beautiful Italy where the sun always shines and where the roads are inviting!
Get that smile off your face, you lucky bastard!
