1942 Harley WLA Flathead Bobber
Thank God There's Harleys... So, let's show them!
Axel from Borchen, Germany sent us these photos of his fantastic 1942 WLA Harley Flathead Bobber motorcycle which has been restored and rebuilt in the true oldschool bobber dirt racing tradition.
Axel: "I just found your site on the web and thought that this would be the right place to show some pictures of my 1942 WLA Bobber. She's a 1942 build 45cu WLA. The bike has a custom oil-tank, the electric system has been converted to 12 volts, and she's got primary belt drive."

We all thank Axel for showing his Harley to us!
1942 Harley WLA Flathead Engine
Here's some detail pictures of the Harley Davidson WLA 45 cubic inch Flathead engine. The A in WLA stands for Army, making it a Liberator
This is a low compression engine designed to last in military conditions.
Note the saddle suspension bar running forward to connect to the frame through a hinge about half way up the tank halves.
This construction provides optimum comfort and protection for your back on a hardtail bike like this.
1942 Harley WLA Gas Tank and Oil Tank
The nice curves of the gas tank are accentuated by the hot rod flames.
The pin-up girl gives a nice oldschool touch to the scene!
Note how this cylindrical oil tank is actually quite square!
1942 Harley WLA Springer Fork
Axel: "The Springerfork is original, the front wheel is a 16" and the rear wheel is a 15"."
