1942 Flathead Magnum Short Chop
Thank God There's Harleys... So, let's show them!
Peter from London, England sent us these photos of his impressive 1942 Harley Flathead Magnum Chopper which has an Ironhead top end built on the WLA Flathead engine lower end.
Peter: "Dunno if this qualifies for your site as Harley never actualy put this motor together...
It's a 1942 WLA45 Magnum that I have just finished building. It's taken me 3 years of collecting parts from all round the world, getting buddies to weld cases up and machine things, balance the crank and have the frame made as a one off, etc.
But she goes well, light as hell, as well as loud! I saw one in a mag 20-30 years ago and always wanted to do one, inspiration was Randy Smith, a genius sadly missed by all.
Anyway, hope ya like it and its good enough for ya site."
Well Pete, she sure is good enough!!!

Harley 1942 WLA Magnum Engine
Here's a couple of pics of Peter's 883cc Harley WLA45 Magnum engine.
On this side view you can see the geometry of the Harley Sportster Ironhead engine, albeit that the tranny is still split from the engine casings.
The Harley 45 Flathead Magnum has her original 750cc WLA barrels and Flathead cylinder heads replaced with the barrels and heads of an 883cc Ironhead.
